Vintage German Silverplate Tea Strainer and Tray

Vintage German Silverplate Tea Strainer and Tray. Shipped with USPS Priority Mail. Strainer measures approximately 3”diameter, tray 4” diameter. Marked on handle of strainer and base of tray with beehive shape and letters W,MF. This is the mark of the Wurttemsbergishe Metallwarenfabrik Co, of Geislingen, Germany. This company was established in the 1800s, and developed around 1890 a new silverplating technique which was known as “Perfect Hard Silver Plating.” After WW11, the company had a resurgence of making hollowareand tableware, which is when this piece was made, c.1950. It is in overall great condition, except for some wear on the strainer interior surface, to be expected with long term use. Tea strainers are not easy to find, especially with the original tray. Lovely and still useful.
